ROYAL OAK TWP. (WWJ) – Police are searching for a group of suspects in a string of thefts, including stealing an ATM from a hotel lobby in Royal Oak Township Saturday night.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, several people entered the lobby of the Baymont Inn on 8 Mile Road near Meyers and attached chains to an ATM, according to Michigan State Police.

The thieves used a white Jeep to pull the ATM from the wall, officials said.

Authorities are not sure how much money was in the ATM.

MSP officials say the group of suspects is also responsible for numerous thefts in Detroit, as well as a second theft in Royal Oak Township.

Authorities did not release any details about the other thefts, and have not provided any descriptions of the suspects.

Anyone who knows something about the stolen ATM or the other thefts in the area is being asked to call 855-MICHTIP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
