KALAMAZOO (WWJ/AP) A Kalamazoo man who allegedly shot three people on a bus was killed in a shootout with police.

Kalamazoo Police said Anthony Oliver, 54, walked onto the bus Saturday morning around 9:15 a.m. and “began firing rounds.”

The bus was parked at the Kalamazoo Transportation Center.

Three people were shot in their arms or legs. They were rushed to the hospital but are expected to survive. The ages and identities of the victims have not been disclosed.

When multiple officers responded to reports of shots fired on the bus, Oliver opened fire on them, police said.

He was struck during an exchange of gunfire with officers, according to police.

No officers were injured.

Oliver died Saturday at a Kalamazoo hospital.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear. Investigators are also working to determine if it was targeted or random. The city’s bus services were suspended throughout Saturday while officers investigated but are back up and running.
