(WWJ) A toddler was found in a Pontiac home with his or her deceased grandmother/foster parent.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department said a Child Protective Services caseworker reported she was doing a routine check on a foster child, 2, around noon Thursday at the home on S. Tasmania Avenue in the area of Woodward and Huron Street. When she did not receive a response, she called a family member of the woman.
When the family member arrived, she looked through the window and saw the grandmother lying apparently lifeless. They entered the home through a window and called 911.
The woman, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family said she did not have any known medical issues or challenges with substance abuse, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The child was found unharmed. Investigators said the woman was likely dead for 18 hours.
An autopsy will be performed. The Sheriff’s Department said, at this point, all signs point to her cause of death as natural.
