SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - The Michigan State Police said all southbound lanes on M-10 in Southfield are now open after troopers closed the area for over an hour while they investigated an alleged freeway shooting Friday evening.
MSP confirmed on their Twitter at 6:30 p.m. that troopers had closed the freeway at south M-10 and 10 Mile Road after a call came from a driver who said he was shot at twice.
The victim, a male driver, told police he was traveling south on the Lodge between Nine and Ten Mile just before 6 p.m. when someone brandished a weapon and fired at him.
According to troopers, the victim was driving in the middle lane when he heard a 'pop' noise. He then looked around and saw a black male hanging out of the passenger side window of another vehicle, holding a small, black handgun.
The victim said he heard another 'pop' as the shooter took aim across the windshield and fired off another round.
Troopers responding to the incident closed the Lodge's southbound lanes while they searched for shell casings.
MSP said earlier on their Twitter that are they were checking into the validity of the victim's claims and were attempting to narrow down their search field on the freeway.
At this time, police said there are no reports of injuries and no damage to property has been found.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to WWJ LIVE for the latest updates and information.
