A campaign stop on behalf of President Donald Trump to a New Hudson gun shop planned for today was moved after ties between an ex-employee of the shop and the plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer were revealed.

The same day five men are scheduled to appear on federal charges related to an alleged plan to kidnap Whitmer, hold her secretly in Wisconsin and try her for treason for her coronavirus orders, the stop was planned for Eric Trump at Huron Valley Guns.

The owner of the gun shop, Ed Swadish, announced the rally would move to the Suburban Showplace in Novi, and that he supported the change.

"It would just play into her story of Trump sending his son to a place where militants train, which wouldn't be further form the truth," Swadish told WWJ's Mike Campbell.

Supporters thanked him for putting the needs of the campaign ahead of his own interests. The owner responded by urging everyone to attend the event rescheduled for the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, and by saying he still planned to send a handgun to Trump.

As for the worker in question, he was not identified. Swadish told the Detroit News he worked for him for about three weeks beginning in February and was fired when other employees said he made them uncomfortable. He wore tactical gear on one occasion, Swadish said.

Meanwhile, while Eric Trump visits the Suburban Showplace, Vice President Mike Pence will visit Grand Rapids Wednesday, three weeks before the Nov. 3 election. Kamala Harris' husband Doug Emhoff, a San Francisco lawyer, spoke yesterday in Huntington Woods.
