
HARTFORD, MICH. (WWJ) Two people died in a crash involving a pair of motorcycles and a car in west Michigan.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said a man driving west on Red Arrow Highway struck the backs of two motorcycles around 11:15 p.m. Friday. It happened near Hartford, about 35 miles west of Kalamazoo.
His vehicle crashed into a tree and caught on fire, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies pulled him from the burning car and pronounced him dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
One of the motorcycle riders died at the hospital.
The driver was identified as a 39-year-old Hartford man, and the rider was identified as a 30-year-old Lawrence man.
The other motorcycle rider was hospitalized for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators believe alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
