WARREN (WWJ) — A lockdown at Warren City Hall has been lifted after a brief scare Tuesday afternoon.
Two people were arrested after apparently attempting to steal high-end cars in the city's parking garage near City Hall and Warren Police headquarters, Commissioner Bill Dwyer told WWJ.
Authorities were still searching for a third suspect.
Dwyer said the lockdown had been put in place as a precaution because someone reported seeing a gun. He's not sure whether there actually was a gun, but officers arrived quickly and arrested the two men, who Dwyer believes were from Detroit.
"It is bold," Dwyer said of suspects trying to steal cars so close to the police station.
The commissioner said the investigation is in its early stages, but the suspects may be part of a larger car theft ring in Macomb County.
No injuries were reported.
