WARREN (WWJ) -- A Macomb County woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband in the back claimed self-defense during a court hearing on Tuesday.
Shakina Thomas-Alexander, 34, is accused of killing Daetorian Thomas-Alexander on Jan. 8 at their home on Audrey Avenue, north of Eight Mile, in Warren.
An assistant prosecutor said it isn't self defense because she stabbed her husband in the back.
However, her attorney said there is evidence of prior abuse to back up the claim.
At first, Thomas-Alexander was charged with attempted murder, but since her husband died 3 days later she now faces a charge of first-degree murder.
