ROCKWOOD (WWJ) -- A burglar took several significant things from a Wayne County family last month, including their beloved pet parrot, Scarlet, and they're pleading for the public to help find her.
Brandon Battey, a Rockwood resident, said he and his wife have called more than 200 pet stores to see if their bird was brought there, but no such luck as of yet.
The parrot was purchased from a rescue six years ago. The bird is red and has purple around the bottom of her neck.
Scarlet also has purple eyelashes and other colorings of blue, yellow and orange.
Battey said that Scarlet also has a respiratory disease that requires constant attention, medication, specific diet and correct humidity to keep her healthy.

Along with Scarlet, the burglar also got away with $650 and a handgun.
