(WWJ) – We all know there are countless satellites and spacecraft in space as we speak.
But where do they go when they die?
Believe it or not, there’s a “space graveyard” out in the most remote part of the Pacific Ocean, known as “Point Nemo.”
On this week’s episode of “All Over the Space,” WWJ’s Erin Vee spoke with Mike Murray from the Delta College Planetarium about how this “space cemetery” came to be, where you can find it, why it exists and how the International Space Station will reach its final resting place.
Murray says there are about 263 pieces of space junk that have been dumped at Point Nemo. Some of them contain materials that could be hazardous to the environment.
