(WWJ) Famed FBI undercover drug informant Richard Wershe, Jr., known as "White Boy Rick," says a report filed against him in Miami, Florida, alleging robbery and assault is completely bogus.
To recap allegations detailed in a Miami Police Department report, the story goes that Wershe and his girlfriend were having sex at his condo, in Miami's Edgewater neighborhood, last Saturday when Wershe blurted out another woman's name.
The girlfriend became upset, the report alleges, there was an argument, and when the woman tried to get out of bed, Wershe grabbed a diamond necklace and bracelet she was wearing. She threw a shoe at him, the report says, the shoe missed, and that's when it's alleged that Wershe punched the woman in the chest.
When Wershe was searched he was found to be in possession of the keys to a Lamborghini, nearly $11,000 in cash, a gold Rolex watch, two gold chains, and a set of AirPods, according to the police report.
After the report was made public Wednesday, WWJ's Charlie Langton had a chance to speak with Wershe, who declined a recorded interview but said unequivocally that the report is a complete fake.
"There was no punching whatsoever," Langton reported, paraphrasing Wershe's response. "And in fact, (Wershe claims) she stole a $50,000 Rolex watch from Wershe, and then when Wershe threatened to go to the police three days after the sex incident, she beat him to the police station and made that fake report."
Wershe is charged in Miami with one count of robbery by sudden snatching, a 5-year felony, as well as a misdemeanor battery charge.
Wershe -- imprisoned at age 17 -- gained fame as the longest-serving non-violent juvenile offender in Michigan’s history, serving 32 years in prison for drug offenses despite being an FBI informant.
He was granted parole in Michigan in 2017, but owed 22 months in Florida for a racketeering and conspiracy charge involving stolen cars.
Wershe, now 53, was finally released from prison in Florida on July 20, 2020, and has since been in the media promoting a marijuana brand.
After being booked on these latest charges, Wershe was released from Miami's Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond.
He will be back in court for a hearing next month.
