(WWJ) – Clean, running water is often taken for granted. When you need it, you turn on the faucet and out comes the water. But what does it look like when nearly a million people are placed under a Boil Water Advisory?

That’s exactly what happened over the weekend in Metro Detroit when a 10-foot primary water main run by the Great Lakes Water Authority broke Saturday morning, forcing 935,000 residents to boil water before using it.

While that number has dropped drastically, there are around 130,000 Metro Detroiters still under the advisory – possibly for the next two weeks. In a new Daily J podcast, WWJ’s Zach Clark takes a look at what went wrong and who’s to blame for the broken pipe causing headaches for many people in the area.
