Why is Michigan such fertile ground for political extremism? And what can be done to stop it?

(WWJ) – Deliberations in the federal trial of four men accused of plotting to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer got underway this week, as prosecutors argued the men had become enraged over the governor’s COVID-19 restrictions during the height of the pandemic.

This so-called “political extremism” isn’t new in Michigan, though. Just two years ago protestors overtook the Michigan Capitol Building over similar COVID gripes. Dating back even further, and on a more extreme level, Terry Nichols was involved in the 1995 Oklahoma City.

WWJ’s Zach Clark, in this edition of The Daily J, set out to find out what’s driven such behavior over the last 30 years in Michigan, and what the next threat may be.
