METRO DETROIT (WWJ) - Winter will come knocking with a blast of artic air over the weekend after Michiganders were teased with a taste of spring weather earlier this week.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean Devore said temperatures will continue to fall on Friday after reaching a high of 40 as wet weather will move through most of the listening area in the afternoon hours. Rain will transition to snow periodically as temperatures fight to stay above freezing -- Devore warned drivers out on the roads can expect a dreary evening commute and should watch out for slick spots.
Temperatures will crash down to 20 degrees overnight, according to Devore, and Saturday morning could see some heavy snow showers right before day break with trace amounts of accumulations.
Devore warned icy spots may develop on roadways, bridges and sidewalks. Drivers should use extreme caution as precipitation from the day before will freeze, potentially forming black ice.
The Metro Detroit area hold steady at 20 degrees for most of the day Saturday while staying dry in the afternoon, but temperatures will take another deep plunge down into the teens by the evening hours, said Devore.
The overnight low is expected to reach 7 degrees.
Sunday will see temperatures rising a smidge into the low 20s despite breaks of sunshine in the clouds -- Devore said some snow flurries are possible.
Meteorologists call for cloudy skies on Monday as cold air continues its grip on Michigan. Highs are only expected to reach 24. Tuesday will see a slight warn up to almost 30 degrees with sunshine and periods of patchy clouds.
Devore said Michiganders will see another dose of spring weather as temperatures for Wednesday will reach 40+ degrees.
