TROY (WWJ) – A 33-year-old Grosse Pointe woman is facing charges after she was arrested while walking on I-75 with a 55-gallon drum over her head over the 4th of July holiday weekend.

Ellen Baracy has been charged with one count of resisting and obstruction police and cited for pedestrian on a freeway. She was given a $3,000 bond.

A Michigan State Police trooper spotted Baracy walking along I-75 near the Big Beaver Road exit around 6 p.m. and stopped to check on her.

Baracy told the trooper she was out picking up litter.

MSP officials said she was acting erratic and not cooperating. The trooper asked for her ID, but she refused and tried to walk away.

Troy police were called to the scene and she also resisted them, MSP officials said. She was eventually arrested and held at the Oakland County Jail.

Authorities said over the weekend they suspected she was on drugs, but in Wednesday’s update, authorities did not say anything about charges for drugs.

The case is still pending further prosecutor review.
