(WWJ) A Michigan woman has been arraigned in connection with the deadly crash that killed a Monroe Country Animal Control officer.

Michele Anne Dropulich, 47, was arraigned on charges of Homicide/Murder Second Degree, Operating while Intoxicated Causing Death and Reckless Driving Causing Death.

Dropulich was arrested Friday and is being held at the Monroe County Jail.

Monroe County Animal Control Officer Darrian Young, 24, of Deerfield was killed on Thursday June 4, when her patrol vehicle was struck at the intersection of M-50 and Rainsville Road.

Michigan State Police said Dropulich was driving at a high rate of speed and ran the red light at the intersection, leaving Officer Young on life support. Young passed away the following day.

Her family wrote on the GoFundMe Page that first responders needed to use the Jaws of Life to pull her out of the wreckage.

Young was only able to help the animals of Monroe County for one year before her life was cut short. She was looking forward to getting married and buying a horse farm with her fiancée, according to her family.
