ROYAL OAK (WWJ) – A 79-year-old woman has died after falling from the balcony of her 11th story apartment in Royal Oak Township Monday afternoon.

Michigan State Police officials say they were called to the Ferndale Park Co-Op Senior Apartments at 8 Mile & Wyoming around 2:30 p.m. after getting a call report that the woman had fallen.

Authorities have not released much information about the incident, including the woman’s name.

It was not clear what led to the fall, but authorities said no foul play is suspected. It appears she had a medical emergency or died by suicide, MSP officials said on Twitter.

MSP officials said investigators were going through her unit looking for clues in the case.

The investigation is still ongoing, pending a medical examiner report and a canvas of the area.

Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the woman's fall to call 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
