
ROYAL OAK CHARTER TOWNSHIP (WWJ) A woman was shot and killed at a used car dealership in Royal Oak Charter Township in an apparent domestic incident, State Police said.
State Police said the Detroit Regional Communications Center received calls around 8:30 a.m. Saturday of shots fired at Legend Motors of Ferndale at 8 Mile and Wyoming.
Dispatch was told that a man in a white Chevy Equinox was shooting and a woman was on the ground. The suspect drove away from the scene before police arrived, according State Police.
When troopers arrived, they found a woman dead in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Numerous shell casings were at the scene.
About an hour later, at 9:45 a.m., Detroit Police said the suspect turned himself in at one of their precincts. He was arrested and transported to the Michigan State Police Metro North Post.
The victim was identified as a 40-year-old Sterling Heights resident. The suspect was identified as a 43-year-old from Oak Park. According to State Police, they share a child together, and the suspect was apparently waiting for her at her workplace.
The families have been notified.
