A 90-year-old woman didn’t allow a foot of snow in Seattle, Washington, to make her miss her first appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to The Seattle Times, Fran Goldman walked three miles each way to receive the shot.

“I have been calling to get an appointment anywhere, every morning, every afternoon and often I’ve been online at night,” Goldman said.

When Goldman was scheduled for her appointment on Sunday, things got complicated. Much of the Washington region experienced a winter storm that happened on Friday and Saturday that caused the areas to see a foot of snow.

Goldman didn't let the cold weather stand in her way as she embarked in fleece pants and a short-sleeved shirt so that nurse could give her the vaccine easily. She also put on a fleece zip-up, a down coat, and then a rain jacket to keep warm. She was prepared to walk in the snow because she took out her snow boots and walking sticks.

“It was not easy going, it was challenging,” Goldman said.

However, Goldman made it to her appointment and was only five minutes late.

Ruth Goldman, the 90-year-old’s daughter, was not shocked that her mother traveled through the frigid temperatures and snow.

“We’re outside people,” she said. “We love being outside. I was out yesterday at Lake Ontario with a wind chill of 6 degrees.”
