DEARBORN (WWJ) – A woman is in custody after she was caught going nearly 25 mph over the speed limit on the Southfield Freeway with a suspended license.

Michigan State Police officials say the 23-year-old woman, whose name was not released, was spotted going 79 mph on the Southfield near Michigan Avenue around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

When the trooper pulled her over, she had an identification card, but no driver’s license, officials said.

A check showed her license had been suspended and she had multiple warrants out for her arrest from multiple agencies.

When the trooper asked the woman to step out of the car, she refused and instead tried to make a video call, officials said.

When she continued to not follow the trooper’s instructions, she was removed from the car and placed in handcuffs.

She was arrested and taken to the Livonia Police Department for the outstanding warrants.

Authorities did not disclose why the previous warrants had been issued.

No one was injured during the incident. Officials say an investigator’s report will be submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review regarding the woman’s actions during the traffic stop.
