VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A man driving the wrong way on I-94 early this morning was killed when he crashed into another car.
Michigan State Police say 911 calls started coming in around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday about a driver going westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-94 near Metro Airport.
That car, a 1973 Buick, then crashed then head-on into a 2021 Kia near Belleville Road.
The driver who was going the wrong way was killed. He was later identified by police as a 42-year-old man. It is believed that alcohol was a factor in the crash, and that his license had been suspended.
A 19-year-old man and 22-year-old woman in the other car were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation by police is ongoing.
