YPSILANTI (WWJ) – The search is on for an 18-year-old Ann Arbor man accused of sexual assault and robbery in Ypsilanti last month.

Ypsilanti police officials on Saturday identified Andrew Najib Jimenes Vasquez as a suspect in a sexual assault and strong-arm robbery on June 25.

While many details surrounding the alleged attack weren’t released, authorities say he followed a woman, sexually assaulted and robbed her in the 1100 block of Washtenaw Avenue – just west of the Eastern Michigan University campus.

Police describe Jimenes Vasquez as a 5-foot-9 Hispanic man, weighing about 175 lbs., with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Authorities believe he may have fled the state of Michigan shortly after learning that he was wanted for this incident.

Officials are asking anyone who has information on his whereabouts to contact your local law enforcement agency or Ypsilanti Police Department Detective Sergeant Jessica Lowry (734-368-8784) or the Anonymous Tip Line 734-292-5429.
