A one-time political rival of Donald Trump said in a new interview that she feels no satisfaction over multiple slates of indictments dogging the former President as he continues to bid for a second term in the White House.
Hillary Clinton, who lost the 2016 Presidential election to Trump, told MSNBC that she feels a “profound sadness” over the serious accusations Trump is facing at both the state and federal levels.
“I don’t know that anybody should be satisfied,” the former Secretary of State said. “This is a terrible moment for our country to have a former President accused of these terribly important crimes.”
Clinton stated that the only good she sees coming out of Trump’s indictments is the demonstration that no one, no matter how powerful, is above the law.
“The only satisfaction may be that the system is working,” she said. “That all of the efforts by Trump and his allies and his enablers to try to silence the truth and undermine democracy have been brought into the light. And justice is being pursued.”
Trump’s latest round of indictments may be the most serious yet with the state of Georgia charging him with election interference in the wake of the 2020 Presidential election that Trump lost to current President Joe Biden.
