Julie Anne Genter is a member of New Zealand's parliament who gave birth to her brand new baby daughter this past Sunday morning.

While she said the birth was "happy and uncomplicated," the moments leading up to it certainly weren't conventional, as Genter rode her bike the 10-minute trek to the hospital while having contractions!

According to KARE 11, Genter initially planned on riding in the front of a cargo bike driven by her partner, but found that with her loaded hospital bag it was way too heavy. So, Genter just "got out and rode."

Genter wrote in a Facebook post, "I genuinely wasn’t planning to cycle in labour, but it did end up happening. My contractions weren’t that bad when we left at 2am to go to the hospital - though they were 2-3 min apart and picking up in intensity by the time we arrived 10 minutes later. And amazingly now we have a healthy, happy little one sleeping, as is her dad."

Genter also rode to the hospital on her bike back in 2018 to goive birth to her first daughter! She is an "avid cyclist," and frequently pushes for safe cycling and pedestrian lane.
