After decades working as a New York City trauma nurse, a 68-year-old man identified only as “Bill S.” moved to Colorado, where he recently won a nearly $4 million jackpot.
What does he plan to do with his winnings (he chose the cash payout, which is just under $2 million)? Buy a vacuum.
Yep, you read that right.
He’s also planning a train trip and to get back to some hobbies that he’s had to put on the back burner while on a fixed retirement income – horseback riding and paragliding. People who work at his local City Market can also look forward to getting $100 gift cards “because they are so nice to him,” he told the Colorado Lottery.
After his parents passed away, Bill came out to Colorado, where he learned to ski in 1972 and where he worked at Aspen Valley Hospital until he retired last year. He describes himself as “an old hippie.”
Bill has played the lottery every week for the past decade. He picked up his fateful $2 Colorado Lotto+ ticket at City Market Carbondale, Colo., and used the following Quick Pick numbers: 5-13-14-16-30-33 for the June 10 drawing.
Even though he’s a regular player, Bill was “beyond belief” when he checked the Colorado lottery website and realized that he won the jackpot. He said he was so nervous that he was trembling.
According to the Colorado Lottery, Bill is “single at the moment,” and “he says he is ‘getting too old and ugly’ for the dating scene but we do not agree!”
