A Texas woman has been charged for allegedly murdering her neighbor over a dispute about him allegedly stealing a “bouncy house,” authorities said on Friday.

The woman, Nora Lee Lopez, turned herself in to the Austin Police Department for the murder of her 52-year-old neighbor James Traylor.

Lopez, 30, allegedly shot Traylor multiple times after she had accused him of stealing the inflatable bouncer, a statement from the Austin Police Department said.

The police were notified of shots fired in East Austin, where they responded just after 8 a.m. on Nov. 1. Police who arrived on the scene found Traylor with numerous gunshot wounds, and he was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

When homicide investigators canvassed the scene, they interviewed witnesses who informed police of the “bouncy house” argument.

After shooting Traylor, Lopez fled the scene and only turned herself in after an arrest warrant for 1st Degree Murder was issued, police said in their statement.

One neighbor, identified as Henry, spoke about the incident with KXAN and shared that “it’s a rough neighborhood.”

“They sounded like, ‘bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang,’ Like that,” Henry said.

The homicide is the 77th in the city of Austin in 2021.
