Cops in Kenner say they have booked a woman for allegedly killing her baby.

"After a lengthy investigation, Kenner mother arrested for death of her infant child," Lieutenant Michael Cunningham said in a news release. "Brandie Froeba... was arrested for Second Degree Murder related to the death of her six-week-old child."

He says an autopsy revealed the infant died of methamphetamine toxicity, and the death came after Froeba breastfed the baby.

"Froeba called 911 to report her six-week-old child was not breathing.  Officers arrived on scene and administered CPR in attempts to revive the child to no avail.  The child was rushed to Ochsner-Kenner Hospital where she was pronounced deceased."

Cunningham explained that Froeba consented to a blood sample and admitted she used marijuana the previous day.

"She stated earlier that day she breastfed the infant and both she and the child fell asleep.  Awaking hours later she discovered the child was not breathing and called 911."

Investigators say initial autopsy results showed the presence of methamphetamine in the infant.  Blood samples were sent out for further lab testing.

"Froeba’s blood analysis results were returned and tested positive for presence of methamphetamine," the Lieutenant explained. "In November 2018, the medical autopsy report was completed and the cause of death was determined to be methamphetamine toxicity and classified as a homicide."
