N.O. Councilman Jared Brossett pleads not guilty to DUI charge

New Orleans City Councilman Jared Brossett pleaded not guilty Monday to his drunk driving charge.

Back in June Brossett was charged with DUI, after he allegedly drove his city-owned SUV over a neutral ground on Elysian Fields Avenue and crashed into another vehicle.

As The Times Picayune | The New Orleans Advocate reports, Brossett’s attorney, Brian Capitelli, entered the plea at Brossett’s hearing. Brosett did not attend the hearing.

Brossett is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless operation and leaving the lane of a roadway.

The day after the crash Brossett made a public announcement that he will be getting substance abuse treatment. He still service as a District D representative.

Brossett’s next court hearing is October 22.
