When LSU announced the hiring of defensive line coach Bo Davis it came with two expectations. The former LSU nose guard is known for developing D-linemen and he’s also known for recruiting them

Davis landed his first big verbal pledge since he was hired in January when four-star defensive tackle Zion Williams of Lufkin, Texas, announced his commitment on the morning of July 4th.

Williams has also been considering Texas A&M, Texas and TCU.

His size jumps off the page. He’s six-foot-three, 330 pounds. It’s hard to find defensive tackles with that kind of size.

As a junior, Williams had 37 tackles, five tackles for a loss and a sack.

He’s also on his high school’s track and field team, competing in shot put and discus.

Williams’ verbal pledge gives the Tigers 13 commitments for the Class of 2025. On3.com has LSU’s 2025 class ranked as the fourth best in the country.

Ohio State is ranked number one with 22 commitments, followed by Alabama, who has 20 and Georgia, who has 17.

LSU’s class has room to go and expect several more commitments before the summer ends.
