LSU football is looking to bounce back from one of its more painful losses of the season, but they'll have to do so without the services of Derek Stingley Jr.

The star cornerback will be out indefinitely after a procedure on his injured foot, which has kept him out the last two games, the school announced Wednesday morning. There's been no timetable set for his return.

“I appreciate all of the support from LSU and the fans,” Stingley Jr. said in a statement. “I’m doing all that I can to return to the field as soon as possible. I want to finish out the season with my teammates and I will do everything I can to get healthy so that I will be able to play again this year.”

The injury itself dates back to camp and kept the junior out for much of practice. He played in the first three games of the season, but reinjured the foot in practice ahead of a matchup with Mississippi State.

The Tigers won that game despite his absence, but blew a fourth quarter lead and fell to Auburn a week later. LSU will rely on a combination of Eli Ricks, Jay Ward, Dwight McGlothern and Cordale Flott in the secondary as they face off with Kentucky this week.
