There was once a time an LSU football win over Ole Miss would've been celebrated with a heart handshake at midfield. Not this weekend at Tiger Stadium.

After the Tigers took down No. 7 (and probably undeserving of that ranking) Ole Miss 45-20, led by Jayden Daniels' five touchdowns and a 28-0 second-half performance, the fans joined that celebration.

It was a field-storming moment that in the past might've been reserved for a more monumental achievement. For example, what might happen in two weeks if the Tigers upset Alabama?

Still, it's hard to fault the fans who have spent the past two years wondering how a perfect season and College Football Playoff title could have sunken to the .500 or worse depths of 2020 and 2021. The vibes certainly didn't feel much better during a 40-13 beatdown at the hands of Tennessee just two weeks ago.

And LSU will certainly be glad to deal with any grief it gets from the SEC over the field-storming, as long as it keeps coming after big wins. The Tigers now have an open week to figure out how they can repeat the feat against an Alabama squad that also fell to Tennessee, with the winner claiming the outright SEC West lead.
