It's been two years of disappointing season kickoffs for LSU, but does the score change in a new location and with a new leader?
The Tigers kick off the 2022 season and the Brian Kelly head coaching era down in New Orleans inside the Caesars Superdome. The opponent: Florida State.
A 6-pack of storylines to watch:
- Who is LSU's QB? Brian Kelly opted to keep this a secret until gameday. It'll be a key decision this season between Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier
- How many QBs play? Even when the starting QB is announced, it's likely we see both throughout the season. A two-QB approach would be interesting.
- Who leads the backfield? Brian Kelly said it could be as big as a four-person committee. But with John Emery suspended the first two games, it'll be important to see who emerges as the bellcow.
- How does the OL hold up? Any time you trot out a true freshman at LT, things aren't great. Can this be the physical group BK has said this team needs?
- Is this an SEC contender? Florida State has the name recognition, but they are simply not the juggernaut they once were. LSU really needs to make a statement here to instill confidence that they can play in the SEC.
- Does the culture change make a difference? This team just hasn't felt like an SEC power the last few years. If they can get back to that, it all starts right here.
