Ed Orgeron couldn't share the status of his LSU roster when asked about COVID vaccination rates at SEC Media Days this week, but the Tigers appear to be in healthy shape heading into the 2021 season.

More than 90% of LSU's roster has already received the coronavirus vaccine, according to a report from The Advocate, citing a source. That number would put the team well clear of the SEC's threshold of 85% that would allow teams to eschew regular testing and mask requirements within team facilities.

"I think most of our guys have been vaccinated for COVID," Orgeron said on Monday. "Obviously that’s a personal choice. But hopefully, hopefully toward the season most of our guys decide to get vaccinated.”

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said Monday that games are unlikely to be rescheduled due to teams having a significant number of players inactive due to COVID issues. He indicated that teams without a minimum number of players required for a game could be forced to forfeit.

"Vaccines are an important and incredible product of science, not a political football," Sankey said at the kickoff event held in Hoover, Alabama. "And we need to do our part to support a healthy society."

Rescheduled games were a harsh reality in the 2020 season, which was stripped down to a 10-game Southeastern Conference schedule with strict capacity limits for fan attendance. Those limits are expected to be lifted for the 2021 season, which the Tigers begin at the Rose Bowl against UCLA.
