LSU baseball is still waiting to find out its first opponent in this week's SEC Tournament, but they can expect an early start either way.

The Tigers landed the 3 seed in the conference tourney, with their first game scheduled for 9:30 a.m. (central) on Wednesday morning. They'll face the winner of a single-elimination game between 6 seed South Carolina or 11 seed Georgia. LSU's second game will start on Thursday, which is the only other guaranteed appearance, at either 9:30 a.m. (with a loss) or 4:30 p.m. (with a win).

The tournament will be double-elimination from that point, with all games played at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Alabama from May 23-28. All games will be broadcast on SEC Network, with the exception of the championship game that will be carried on ESPN 2.

The Tigers (42-13, 19-10 SEC) lead the SEC with 12 victories in the annual tournament, but the most recent came in 2017. After spending the first 12 weeks of the season as the unanimous top-ranked team, LSU has hit a bit of skid over the past month, losing five of its last eight conference games, which included a pair of series losses to Auburn and Mississippi State. A deep run in the conference tournament could help the Tigers rebuild confidence heading into the upcoming NCAA Tournament in which anything short of a College World Series trip will likely be considered a disappointment.
