LSU football held serve against UAB, but they didn't gain any ground in the AP Top 25 despite a key team falling in front of them.

The Tigers remained at No. 6, with USC leapfrogging them to the No. 6 spot as the leader in the Pac-12 following a thrilling win over UCLA. USC took the slot that had been held previously by Tennessee, which lost a stunner to South Carolina and with star Hendon Hooker suffering a serious injury.

Tulane comes in at No. 19, still with a shot at the AAC crown after a stunning UCF loss to Navy.

The AP poll is making a bit of a statement with the Trojans' placement here, and LSU will be watching closely to see if the College Football Playoff committee follows suit. Either way LSU has a chance to solidify its placement with a win over Texas A&M in the regular season finale, and will have a shot to make its case against top-ranked Georgia in the SEC Championship next month.
