The NCAA set a new record for transfer portal entrants on Day 1, but LSU can largely say it stayed off of that list.
A whopping 722 players entered the portal on Day 1, the most ever since the practice began. The previous high was 270.
But LSU's biggest headline was a player announcing he was sticking around in star WR Kayshon Boutte. That's significant both in terms of the portal and the NFL Draft, where he is projected to be a first-round selection whenever he enters his name.

But the program does have a handful of players currently in the portal, and it's likely more will join in the coming weeks. Scroll below for the players currently listed in the portal (as of Dec. 13, 2022).
S Derrick Davis Jr.
- Destination: Undecided
- Year: Sophomore
- Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Notes: Davis was another player who saw his role diminished this past season, seeing action in just four games after appearing in 12 throughout the 2021 campaign. He did log four tackles, doubling his total of 2 from his freshman season.
OT Cameron Wire
- Destination: Undecided
- Year: Senior
- Hometown: Gonzales, Louisiana
- Notes: Wire is another notable name on this list, a veteran member of a makeshift offensive line group that started two freshmen tackles throughout the season. Wire, capable at both tackle and guard, saw his role notably diminished under Brian Kelly, starting just one game in 2022 after starting 10 times over the previous two seasons.
LB Kolbe Fields
- Destination: Undecided
- Year: Freshman (r)
- Hometown: New Orleans, Louisiana
- Notes: The Archbishop Rummel alum saw action in 11 games with the Tiers this past season after transferring from South Carolina, logging 4 tackles in limited action. He was the first player to transfer who was a member of Brian Kelly's transfer class in Year 1. All other players on this list, as of Dec. 13, were recruited or transferred to LSU under the Ed Orgeron regime.
TE Kole Taylor
- Destination: Undecided
- Year: Junior
- Hometown: Grand Junction, Colorado
- Notes: Taylor is one of the most notable names to enter the transfer portal, seeing in action in 32 games over three seasons in Baton Rouge and making 7 starts. He was lightly used in the passing game, catching just 17 balls for 159 yards over his Tigers career. He might be best known as being the owner of the shoe that fell off and was thrown late in an upset win over Florida, with the penalty it drew extending a drive for a go-ahead score. His role was further diminished this season due to the emergence of freshman Mason Taylor (no relation) as a standout performer at the TE position.
EDGE Desmond Little
- Destination: Undecided
- Year: Junior
- Hometown: Pritchard, Alabama
- Notes: Little saw action in 14 games over three seasons with LSU, but had his biggest impact in 2021, when he registered 10 total tackles, 3 TFLs and 2.5 sacks in just five appearances. He saw action in 7 games this past season and logged his first career start against Southern. He finished the year with 6 tackles and 1 pass defensed.
CB Raydarious Jones
- Destination: Mississippi State
- Year: Junior
- Hometown: Horn Lake, Mississippi
- Notes: Saw action in 16 games over three seasons with the Tigers, but logged his most action this past season under Brian Kelly. He logged 9 total tackles and one pass defensed.
CB Damarius McGhee
- Destination: Undecided
- Year: Sophomore
- Hometown: Pensacola, Florida
- Notes: After appearing in 12 games for the Tigers in the 2021-'22 season and recording 5 tackles, McGhee only saw action in one game this past season and recorded no stats.

WR Jack Bech
- Destination: Undecided
- Year: Sophomore
- Hometown: Lafayette, Louisiana
- Notes: Bech arrived at LSU with high acclaim and made an immediate impact in Year 1 as he worked in a hybrid WR/TE role. He caught 43 passes for 489 yards and 3 TDs, appearing primed for a step up in Year 2. That never really happened, however. Bech was shifted back to WR in Year 1 under Brian Kelly and struggled to make an immediate impact, while also battling injuries. He had a short-lived stint as a kick returner and caught just 16 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown. Bech's LSU career came to an end with an unfortunate lowlight, having a ball bounce off the back of his helmet as he fell to the ground and landing in a Georgia receiver's hands for an interception early in the SEC Championship. He did have 2 catches in the game for 43 yards. Bech's talent as a pass-catcher is clear, though, and he'll likely be an impact player wherever he lands.
LB Antoine Sampah
- Destination: Undecided
- Year: Junior
- Hometown: Woodbridge, Virginia
- Notes: Sampah appeared in four games over the past two seasons with the Tigers but did not record any statistics.
LB Phillip Webb
- Destination: Undecided
- Year: Sophomore
- Hometown: Buford, Georgia
- Notes: Webb saw action in three games this past season for the Tigers, recording 1.5 tackles.
