The Tiger Bowl is here, and with it the best chance yet for LSU football to announce its plans to make noise in the Southeastern Conference.

It'll be Bo Nix, not TJ Finley, under center for Auburn. But regardless of who is passing the ball, LSU's secondary will have to prove it can hold up again without star cornerback Derek Stingley Jr.

HIGHLIGHTS

LOOK OUT FOR JAY

Anders Carlson is one of the nation's best kickers, but even he can't make a kick with Jay Ward's arms hovering just above his feet. The LSU defensive back got a perfect rush on a 52-yard attempt in the third quarter for a huge block to end an Auburn drive and set his offense up with good field position and a 16-10 lead.

HALF: LSU 13, Auburn 10

HE DID IT AGAIN?!?

Auburn's quarterback will not be tackled. Again on 4th down...

BO NIX EARNED THIS ONE...

LSU's defense did it's whole bend-but-don't-break thing throughout most of the first half, but Bo Nix wouldn't be denied on 4th-and-2 late in the first half. After rolling out to the right, Nix scrambled all the way back to the left sideline, made multiple would-be tacklers miss and then somehow found tight end Tyler Fromm for a touchdown to trim LSU's lead to 13-7.

Don't believe us? Check out the video below. It was quite a thing.

NEED A BIG PLAY? FIND A BECH

LSU doesn't want to have to play from behind the chains, but they clearly don't have any issue with it. Their opening touchdown came on a 2nd and goal from the 31-yard line. Later in the half they were faced with a 3rd and 15 snap. It was freshman Jack Bech this time with a 40-yard catch-and-run down into the red zone. The Tigers settled for a field goal and a 13-0 lead.

Beck was converted to tight end before the season, but he shows on this play that the wheels are very much wide receiver-caliber.

END Q1: LSU 7, Auburn 0

KAYSHON BOUTTE ... HE READY

Hard to get off to much of a better stuff than that. Kayshon Boutte took a ball for 55 yards earlier in the drive, and after a 21-yard loss due to a bad snap, Max Johnson dropped it into the bucket to Boutte for yet another long touchdown.

With the 31-yard score, Boutte was already up to 99 yards receiving after one offensive series.
