The fifth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team won a back-and-forth game with Vanderbilt, 83 to 77 on Monday night, to improve to 19-0.

This game featured seven ties and 13 lead changes. The Lady Tigers are now 5-0 in games decided by 10 points or less.

Flau’Jae Johnson had 25 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter as LSU outscored Vandy 25 to 20 to pull out a six-point victory.

Aneesah Morrow continues to put up amazing stat lines. The senior from Chicago had 23 points and 15 rebounds against the Commodores. Morrow has more than 2,500 career points and 1,500 career rebounds, just the eighth player in NCAA history to accomplish that feat.

Morrow credits her work ethic for her success.

“In high school, I got injured, I had three knee surgeries and when I trained, I wanted to be elite, and my trainer told me I have to be elite that’s the only way I can train, I practice the way that I play and that’s the reason why and I never know if the game will be taken away from me again, so I have to play my heart out.”

Morrow’s effort garnered her SEC Player of the Week honors. She also had a 23 point, 21-rebound performance against Tennessee last Thursday.

Morrow has 91 career double-doubles, one away from Oregon’s Jillan Alleyne for second most in NCAA D1 history. She played from 2013 to 2016.

LSU plays again on Sunday against Florida.
