The Southeastern Conference confirmed on Monday what LSU fans had known for most of the weekend: Jayden Daniels was the conference's Offensive Player of the Week.

The Tigers quarterback earned the award for his 5-touchdown performance (two passing and three rushing) in LSU's 45-20 shellacking of then No. 7 Ole Miss. Daniels completed 21-of-28 passes for 248 yards and those two scores, and also ran for 121 yards and three more scores on his 23 carries.

It was an all-around dynamic effort that helped catapult the Tigers up to No. 18 in the rankings with back-to-back SEC wins. LSU had climbed in at No. 25 two works earlier but fell out after a loss to Tennessee. The Tigers soundly defeated Florida prior to Ole Miss and Daniels has accounted for 11 touchdowns and zero turnovers in those games.

LSU is now tied with Alabama atop the SEC West standings with a head-to-head matchup coming up in two weeks. Ole Miss dropped to No. 15 with the loss and slots in just behind those two teams in the West standings.

But Daniels wasn't the only award recipient for LSU this week. Mekhi Wingo was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week, and linebacker Harold Perkins earned Freshman of the Week honors. The sophomore Wingo, who was thrust into a bigger role after Maason Smith's injury, tallied 7 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble. He also batted down a pair of passes.

Perkins finished with five tackles, a sack and a PBU, and played a pivotal role in the Tigers' second half shutout of the Rebels.
