LSU women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey is giving some insight--albeit veiled--about why All-American forward Angel Reese has been absent from the team's games lately.

Reese was once again conspicuous by her absence when the Tigers beat Texas Southern 106-47 Monday night in Baton Rouge. That victory came despite Reese missing her second straight game. On Friday, Reese did not travel with the team to Hammond to play Southeastern. In the game before that (against Kent State), Mulkey benched Reese.

Mulkey addressed Reese's absence after the game.

“You always have to deal with locker room issues,” Mulkey said after Monday night's game. “That’s just part of coaching. In 40 years, I can never think of a time where I didn’t have to deal with issues. That’s what coaches do. Sometimes y’all know about them and sometimes you don’t. Sometimes you want to know more than you’re entitled to know. I’m going to protect my players. Always.”

Reese addressed her absence in a Tweet.

"Please don’t believe everything you read," Reese wrote in her Twitter post on Sunday.
