It appears Baton Rouge hasn't seen the last of Myles Brennan after all.

The quarterback who was expected to compete for the Tigers' starting job in the 2021 season prior to an arm injury announced on social media that despite entering the transfer portal earlier in the year, he planned to return to the roster led by new head coach Brian Kelly.

Brennan had initially stuck with the program with indications that he'd fight for the starting job again after rehab from a broken arm and surgery, but he never returned to practice and eventually opted to go the transfer route. But things have changed since that decision, most notably the exit of head coach Ed Orgeron and the decision of fellow quarterback Max Johnson to enter the transfer portal himself.

"There's no place like home," Brennan posted. "Let's ride Tiger nation."

The lone other quarterback to log a snap for the Tigers this past season was freshman Garrett Nussmeier, who would likely represent the top competition for Brennan in potentially winning the job in the 2022 season. It's unclear who will start in the bowl game in January, with Nussmeier playing in the maximum number of games he can while maintaining the ability to redshirt. LSU also signed 5-star St. Thomas More quarterback Walker Howard, the No. 5 recruit in the nation per 247Sports, to its 2022 class.

Brennan had already competed in two quarterback competitions, coming out behind Danny Etling in his freshman season, and Joe Burrow in his sophomore and junior seasons. The Mississippi native and former 5-star recruit finally got his chance at the job in the 2020 season, but that run ended after a bizarre core injury after four games. He was impressive over that span, throwing for 1,112 yards and 11 touchdowns against just three interceptions, but the Tigers went 2-2 with bad losses to Missouri and Mississippi State. He was initially replaced by TJ Finley, who has since transferred to Auburn. Johnson took over for the final two games and led the Tigers to upset wins over Florida and Ole Miss.
