The final weekend in October is your annual weekend where you don’t have to stress about the LSU Tigers. But you are thinking about what will happen on the first Saturday in November. So much will be on the line, a potential SEC West Championship, a Heisman Trophy, and bragging rights if you have any friends or family who are Alabama fans.
As we wait for the big game, there are games to consume on Saturday. Here’s some worth watching or at least keeping an eye on as you get your Halloween costume together.
Georgia vs Florida 2:30 PM
Hopefully these are two teams the Tigers will play this season. Florida will come to Tiger Stadium on November 11th. The Gators have taken their lumps with bad losses to Utah and Kentucky. Florida outscored South Carolina in its last game 41-39.
The two-time defending national champion Bulldogs are entering the toughest part of their schedule. They have home games against Missouri, Ole Miss and a road trip to Tennessee before finishing out the regular season against Georgia Tech. Then maybe a rematch with LSU in the SEC Championship game.
Oregon at Utah 2:30
The best match-up between Top 25 teams is this one as the 8th ranked Ducks face the 13th ranked Utah Utes. Oregon QB Bo Nix has thrown 19 touchdown passes to just one interception. It’s a shame the PAC-12 is going away because the league has actually been interesting this year.
Tulane at Rice 3 PM
With LSU off, it’s a chance for 22nd ranked Tulane to grab the spotlight. The Green Wave are 3-0 in the American Athletic Conference. This is Rice’s first year in the AAC and they are 4-3 overall. The Owls also have a Daniels at quarterback. JT Daniels is having a good season. He’s thrown for 2,173 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Washington at Stanford 6 PM
For those paying attention to Jayden Daniels’ Heisman chances, this is a game worth watching. Washington QB Michael Penix saw his Heisman stock drop last week with a blah performance against Arizona State. The Huskies face another bad team this Saturday and Penix will look to get the voters back on his side.
Vanderbilt at Ole Miss 6:30 PM
If LSU beats Alabama on November 4th, they are not in the driver’s seat to win the SEC West. Ole Miss also has one loss in the SEC. I don’t expect the Rebels to lose to Vanderbilt, but if the Tigers win, LSU fans will be big Georgia fans when the Bulldogs and Ole Miss play each other in Athens on November 11th.
