LSU has been to the College World Series before, 18 times in fact.

But this is the Jay Johnson era at LSU. This trip includes two of the best players in LSU history in Dylan Crews and Paul Skenes. This one felt a bit different as freshman Gavin Guidry earned the final out at Alex Box Stadium Sunday evening.

The celebration didn't disappoint, with the team dogpiling in the middle of infield after winning its fifth game in as many tries in postseason play.

It was as impressive a run to Omaha as any in the eras of Johnson's predecessors in Skip Bertman and Paul Mainieri, both of whom were on hand to watch this year's squad punch its ticket. LSU outscored Kentucky 22-3 in the two games this weekend, with the +19 run differential the largest such number by any SEC squad since the Super Regional format began in 1999.

Still, it's not a first for Johnson. He landed in the CWS bracket twice before during his year's in Arizona. What he hasn't done? Win the whole thing. At the end of the day, it was Omaha or bust. The Tigers got there. Now they have to go win it.
