It'll go down in the scorer's ledger as a triple and an error, but Gavin Dugas' shot and sprint around the bases counted all the same as LSU baseball aimed to make Paul Mainieri's final run even more memorable.

The LSU left fielder already had a solo home run to his credit when he stepped to the plate in the top of the 6th inning in a do-or-die game against Oregon late Friday night in the Eugene regional.

After putting on an extended at-bat against Oregon starter Brett Walker, Dugas caught a hold of a hanging breaking ball and drove it off the center field wall at PK Park. Dugas sprinted out of the box and never checked up around, beating the high throw to the plate from the cutoff in left-center.

The replay showed LSU's third base coach initially signaling Dugas to continue, then throwing on the stop sign at the last second. Whether he ignored the sign or just didn't notice, he continued undeterred to home to finish off the thrilling moment.

The official ruling was a triple and a fielding error in the outfield. The score extended LSU's lead to 3-1, with the Tigers needing a victory to force an ultimate rematch on Monday for the region crown. The Tigers were playing their second game on Sunday after pounding Gonzaga 9-4 to set up the rematch with Oregon out of the loser's bracket.
