LSU is just built different, and never was that more true than on Sunday evening in the MLB draft.

Paul Skenes went to the Pirates at No. 1 and Dylan Crews to the Nationals at No. 2, the first-ever teammates to ever go 1-2 in the MLB Draft. It's the first time Ben McDonald in 1989 that a Tiger went No. 1 overall, and LSU remains the only program in the nation with No. 1 overall picks in each of men's and women's basketball, baseball and football.

Even more fitting: Neither player was in attendance at the draft.

"Absolutely amazing. Can't really put it into words. ... It feels like a lot of work and a lot of surrounding myself with the right people and doing the right thing for a long period of time," Skenes said. "It feels like something good really happened."

Skenes and Crews are just two of a handful of the national champion Tigers expected to be drafted, including pitchers Ty Floyd and Grant Taylor, 1st baseman Tre' Morgan, shortstop Jordan Thompson and DH Cade Beloso.

The draft continues on Monday with Rounds 3-10, with Rounds 11-20 to take place on Tuesday.
