The first three words of Ed Orgeron's post-game press conference after LSU's loss to Auburn summed up the result best.
"Very disappointing loss," Orgeron said after the 24-19 loss in Tiger Stadium, LSU's first home defeat in the series since 1999.
The result quickly brought LSU down to earth after a win over Mississippi State to opener Southeastern Conference play, bouncing back from an opening loss to UCLA. A win would've likely vaulted LSU back into the AP rankings and put them on the top line to contend for the SEC West crown.
Instead the Tigers are picking up the pieces after a 3-2 start and with an offense that's sputtered in the second half of the past two games. LSU is now 8-7 since winning a national championship.
“I don’t look at it like that," Orgeron said. "Take it one day at at a time; just get better one day at a time.”

WHY DIDN'T LSU MAKE ADJUSTMENTS ON BO NIX?
The short answer: They did.
Ed Orgeron said in the second quarter LSU put a spy on him. It helped, but it "just didn't help enough," Orgeron said.
During halftime coaches spent a good bit of time working on adjusting the pass rush, with the altered goal of keeping Nix in the pocket. In the second half LSU ran what's called a "cage rush." The defensive tackles bullrush as the ends contain, and LSU also ran a spy.
Nix was still effective, but he wasn't able to scramble as easily. The rush scheme worked to force a pair of 3-and-outs in the fourth quarter, but Nix got the better of them in the end with LSU's offense failing to possess the ball.
"It was just a matter of getting him down," Orgeron said. "We were all over him, we’ve just gotta tackle him.”

ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE STRUGGLES
“I’m really disappointed in that. And we’ve got two guys on that offensive line that we won a national championship with. I thought that would be one of the strengths of our football team, and it’s not. Gotta continue to look at it and improve.”
