The Smoothie King Center will be a sold-out blender on Wednesday evening.
That's what the Pelicans announced in the hours ahead of a play-in matchup against the Spurs, set to tip off at 8:30 p.m. in New Orleans. And when that happens, it'll be a sea of red for what the team has described as a "red out."
All fans in attendance for the game will receive a red shirt, similar to what the team did for home games during the Pelicans' last visit to the postseason in 2018.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early, with doors opening at 7 p.m., 90 minutes prior to tipoff. There will also be a pregame happy hour beginning at 6:30 p.m. outside the arena on Dave Dixon Drive.
And when the team takes the floor inside the Smoothie King Center, it will do so hoping to win itself at least one more game in the 2021-'22 season. That game would come on the road against the L.A. Clippers, who lost the 7-8 matchup to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Pelicans have defeated the Clippers three times this season, but lost 119-100 in the most recent meeting.
But to get there the Pelicans will have to buck the trend of this season after losing three of the four matchups against the Spurs. The home sellout crowd could be a major factor in how that 5th and final matchup goes, and whether the Pelicans season has at least a few more days in it.
