The Pelicans stayed put in the NBA draft and will bring one of the top shooters in the field home to New Orleans in Trey Murphy.
Murphy is listed at 6-foot-9, 206 pounds and shot north of 40% from 3-point range and 90% from the free throw line in his final year with the Cavaliers, though he did it at a relatively low 11.3 points per game scoring clip.
New Orleans originally owned the No. 10 pick before moving back seven slots in the trade that sent Steven Adams and Eric Bledsoe to the Memphis Grizzlies and Jonas Valanciunas to the Pelicans.
The pick adds another young standout to a roster that already includes recent lottery picks in Zion Williamson, Jaxson Hayes and Kira Lewis Jr.
He also marks the first new addition to the roster since Willie Green was announced as the team's new coach earlier this week.
The Pelicans still own the No. 35, 45 and 51 overall picks in the draft after trading the No. 53 to the Philadelphia 76ers for cash considerations.
