Kendrick Perkins doesn't always hit the mark with his takes about the Pelicans, but at least he's wiling to admit it.

The former NBA center turned ESPN analyst turned a twitter spat into a bet earlier this year, saying that if Zion Williamson were to sign a long-term extension off of his rookie deal he'd publicly apologize on national television.

That apology came Tuesday on ESPN, with Perk speaking earnestly into the camera to express his apology to the city, the fans and others. Can't see the video below? Click here.

The moment of levity is just the latest installment in an offseason of positivity around New Orleans basketball, with a playoff run bookended by a lottery pick from the Lakers. The Pelicans used the No. 8 overall pick on wing Dyson Daniels, who will be debuting at the Summer League this month. The team also has stars returning in CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram and, of course, Zion.

Perkins also vowed a donation to some agency in the city, but it's not yet specified where that will be. With all that in mind, it's probably the smart move by Perk to get on the right side of things now.
