
The city of New Orleans is still reeling after an attack on Bourbon Street that left at least 10 killed and dozens injured in the early hours of New Year's Day.
The New Orleans Saints and Pelicans released a statement addressing the incident late Wednesday morning, sharing support for the city and thanks to first responders. Here's what it said:
"The New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred on Bourbon Street early on New Year’s Day. Our hearts go out to all victims and their families during this difficult time, and express our deepest gratitude to the first responders who acted swiftly and bravely on the scene.
"New Orleans is a city built on resilience, and this heartbreaking event reminds us of the importance of coming together to support one another, to honor those affected, and to work toward healing as a community. In times of tragedy, the New Orleans community has always shown extraordinary courage and compassion, and we are certain that this time will be no different."

Information is still funneling out regarding the attack, as well as plans for the Sugar Bowl between Notre Dame and Georgia scheduled for Wednesday evening. To this point there's been no indication that the game will not be played, though security and precautionary measures are expected to be ramped up significantly.
The Pelicans face the Heat in Miami on Wednesday before returning home for a game against the Wizards on Friday. The Saints are scheduled to face the Bucs on the road Sunday to close out their season.
